Born and raised in Trench Town, singer and International Roots reggae recording artist Anthony Johnson first came to prominence as one of the local vocal trio Mystic Eyes, whose tune 'Perilous Times' (Released As a 12" by Green Sleeves Records in the UK) was a massive roots hit in the late 1970's as solo artist, he was soon found amongst the company of such esteemed producers as Jah Thomas, Linval Thompson and Prince Jammys, who all released classics songs from him, usually backed by the Roots Radics and High Times band.

It was Jah Thomas who produced Anthony's dance hall tour de force "Gun Shot" which was an international hit released in the UK by Green Sleeves Records... This track has happened as a sound System Dub Plate called "Sound Clash" which any Sound System worth their salt has in their Dub plate selection box
Rough guide to reggae – Anthony Johnson's "Gun Shot of 1982, one of many warnings of the time to gun happy youths, delivered over an aggressive roots rhythm. Other hits from Anthony includes, " Dance Hall Vibes" an early digital monster from Jammys, plus a pre-digital album "A Yah We Deh" "Africa" " Know The Truth" for Linval Thompson. Anthony relocated to London in the 1980's.
Anthony has been recording and playing live dates through Europe constantly.
New album produced by Prince Jammys is to be released soon.
