Awake is formed in 2002 at Sofia. At this time members of the band are Ivan Ivanov (vocals, acoustic guitar), Teodor Yankov (drums), Alexander Nakov (guitar) and Nichola Pushkov (bass). In the early days Awake plays its own music and cover versions of some favourite songs at Sofia's venues. Later, in 2004, Nichola and Alexander are replaced by Martin Evstatiev (bass, ex Subtierra) and Kalin Belchev (guitar). The new structure of the band is completed when Zheliaz Zhelezov becomes a drummer of Awake in 2005.

In 2004 Awake wins three awards from the popular bulgarian radio station BG Radio. Two of them are from the contest "BG Talents" and the prize is audio and video recording of their first rotated single. The song is "Za neya" which is included in three Bg music compialtions. The third award that the band wins is from the annual BG Radio music awards 2005 in "BG Discovery" category.

The sound of Awake is influenced of grunge music and sound of so called Seattle bands like Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam etc. But the band and its gropings are largely free of style definitions and it has no fears to experiment with different sound or ideads.

Band has frequent individual appearances on scenes at venues in Sofia and province and in festival events with similar bands. For example Awake habitually takes participation in traditional party events titled Seattle Night wich are holded two times a year.
