Carl de Figueiredo
Carl is the vocalist in “Glad Hearts”. He has been singing for most of his life, in various musical productions and in church choirs in Kenya, Goa and the UK. In Goa, Carl performed in Beethoven's Choral Symphony, under Lourdhino Barreto; and was inspired and encouraged by his renowned great uncle, Antonio de Figueiredo. Carl studied piano to a high level and is in demand as an accompanist.
He has sung with the London Choral Studio, both as choir member and soloist, under Robert Hamween. With the Salway Singers, Carl has been invited to sing as soloist in their productions of the Messiah, and together with Norman Welsby in Stainer's Crucifixion.
For some years Carl sang with the English Baroque Choir, and had the exhilaration of performing in Bach's St Matthew Passion and other choral masterpieces at the Barbican, The Festival Hall, and Keble College, Oxford.
Currently Carl is studying voice with Norman Welsby, and has recently been invited by Patricia Rozario to study with her.
For Carl, music and his Christian faith are deep-seated passions, both of which have been nurtured and developed during recent years with the Adoramus Choir of St. Albans under the guidance and inspiration of David Hooke and Norman Welsby.
