Hello brothers and sisters in Christ. I hope you all had a great weekend in Christ. For those of us in the USA, a happy holiday. I thought I would share something that has been on my mind for some time now. It is about competition. Most of my life I have been in some sort of competition whether it be against a sibling, friend, in athletics, a or for a job. In this life, that is not strange. It is, in fact, common place; "the strong shall survive". One thing that remains a problem to me with all of this are those who are left behind or who did not win. Scripture tells us to run the race as an athlete does to win. that does not mean to leave others in the dust. You might see a race in which one of the athletes falls and many participants take the opportunity to advance further or past the one who has fallen. However, there are one or two in the race who sees this and stop to help the other up. Sometimes they even give a shoulder and help the injured athlete to the finish, sacrificing their own place in the race. Even though they have trained hard, in the early hours of the morning, day and night for months, and years, they recognized their competition as people. They did what they did not have to do to help another. In my eyes and heart, they are the true winners. In Luke 14, there are great examples giving to us by our Lord Jesus. Particularly in Luke 14;11 he sums this up by saying: "For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted". We all have a strong desire to be heard, seen, recognized, and excepted by others. I think we deny the most High when we seek these things from man and forget that we are all of these things and more to Him. Remember each other, and do not have competition, but character and integrity in our endeavors. Thanks for listening. God bless!!!
