Hi everyone, i thought it would be nice to share our thoughts if you are all open to it.
Subject matter - What inspires you to write, where does your music come from?
My music usually comes to me when i am in bed inbetween sleeping and waking. It usually comes to me as a melody and it won't leave me alone until i get up and do something with it. It like haunts me until i do. But if i wait too long it also eventually dissappears forever. Usually, if i can get up sing the melody in to my recording studio, then i can go back to bed and get some more sleep! I feel it is being given to me as a gift, and then its up to me what i do with it. Inspiration, wow! its a beautiful thing! My lyrics have a bit of my life in them with added extras, i like to tell a story.

Sound inspires me, a particular sound can suggest an entire song in my mind, i then need to create it, if i hold on to that key emotion, feeling or thought i can carry that thru as a common thread which keeps me on track with my original idea.
I use my ear as a guide throughout, i do not think about it or analyse what im hearing, if my energy and excitement is maintained as i work on the song i know i will like my end result, in the end it comes down to pleasing my ear and the other 1 too LOL.

Thankyou so much for your reply, i can relate to what your saying. Some songs to come easy for me as well, from thought to form its just meant to be.

What inspires me? Love(all the stuff that go`s with it) Transport,(cars, motobikes, etc) Drink,Drugs Gambling, other vice and crime, Women, sorry, comes under Love, and last but not least Religion.Sometimes a song comes easy, other times I know what I want to hear but I have to work at it , and if I lose the mood for it, I leave it ,return later,maybe alot later. is a really good song. I haven't yet written anything that I'm really overjoyed with - If I could do that before I pass on I'll die a happy man! My music, if it can be called that, jsut comes as I play an acoustic guitar. I hear a tiny little something that hooks me and then it is usually hours of building on that original little spark. It is hard work and I have dozens of 'songs' not yet finished. Some I pick up after several years and suddenly I can finish them.

Hello Jewls, great idea. I've tried to write songs on and off for a very long time and have dozens, mostly in very rough demo form. Once I've got the idea down and can see hear how it should sound in my mind I tend to lose interest and archive it because I don't have the musical ability to turn the idea into anything that resembles what I can hear!
