BgBmbu born Jay Alan in Fort Polk Louisiana in 1976 spent two years down south before his father was arrested for murder and sent to prison for a long 29 year term. Shortly after his fathers arrest his mother gave up custody of Jay and his sister Julie to their grandparents who brought them to NY and immediatly placed them in foster care for 6 years. After living with two families thier grandparents were forced by the social service administration to take custody of them or allow one family to adopt them. The children moved in to their grandparents home were they stayed for several years before leaving to avoid further punishment and physical abuse and to begin life on their own at the ages of 14 for his sister Julie and at age 16 for Jay.

Jay quickly found himself without a home and spent months in a homeless shelter until he was moved into a room for rent in a three bedroom apartment which he shared with two college students. Jay stayed in the apartment while receiving public assistance for a year before his assistance was removed and he found himself on the streets again. For 8 months Jay lived on the streets in the back of a van. There he stayed during the winter months until spring and during that time realized what he wanted his life to become.

While still living with his grandparents, he began playing piano and quickly joined a group of friends in a rap group consisting of 5 members. Jay worked with friends making drum sequences and playing piano and keyboard to create original music that the group was quickly recognized for in their school. He realized at an early age that music was a passion for him and never stopped working.

While sleeping in a van on the streets he made enough money to purchase batteries for a keyboard so he could continue to work on his music. He wrote many songs while searching for a solution to get off the streets. He came into contact with an old friend who's mother allowed him to rent a room in thier home and from that he began making moves throughout the nieghborhood. He quickly became know for the music he was creating within his circle of friends and began making mix tapes for people at their request.

He later joined efforts with Tai C and the Legyion Entertainment Group and learned how to work in a studio being taught by his friend Tai C. He spent much of his time at the studio often times showing up at 6 am waking up his friend Tai so he could play the keyboards using headphones while Tai slept. During this time he learned more about using tracks and samples and made a commitment to only play original music like he did back in the day with his first group of friends. He developed a style of music using hip hop drums sequences along with old school cuts mixed with modern sounds samples and effects.

Committed to his own style of music he realized that his lyrics played an important part of the overall message he wanted his music to send. He wasn't interested in making music about anything but real life and how to maintain yourself and success but felt it was important to still maintain a strong sense of urgency to the nature of the streets that he lived on for so long.

BgBmBu continues to work on his music and create new sounds and lyrics within his commitments and portrays himself as an artist who knows what life can be and what life can become if you let it or if you work hard at being successful. With his own musical scoring and strong lyrical messaging he stays commited to the streets he grew up on offering himself, his experiences, creativity, knowledge and personal gains and losses as the foundation of his musical composition.
