The only son for his father, Zulan "Blackz" Murray was born in Portland Jamaica, at a place called Cooling Spring/Hope Bay. A few weeks after birth, he moved to Montego Bay where he lived until he was six years old. He returned to Portland and in 1999 migrated to the United States. Thinking that through his migration, reggae music would disappear from his life, he continuously seek to quench that thirst. Where ever he heard reggae music, he wanted to be there. A few years into high school,Blackz start noticing the works of local dj's such as "Biggie", "Licshot", "lyricz", "TC Killa",and "Ataclaps crew". He was greatly influenced by their work and decide to start something of his own. His high school interest in computers was of great advantage because from there he bought a desk top which he use for his recordings. With his computer, mic, earphones, and voicebox, he is able to record most of his writings. Blackz then created a group called "Thug Youths" which fell apart due to the death of a close friend. With determination and a love for music he continued on by himself. He was exposed to the club scene when he start hanging with the members of "Revolution sound". With this exposure he had easy access to shows where he would perform. He became well known among local reggae fans.Blackz also finds that he have another talent. He is good at being an MC . In 2005, "Jamkam sound", orginally from New York, wanted to expand their business to as far as Maryland. Blackz along with his friend Lorenzo, took the position to DJ for "Jamkam" every Thursday nights at the Setttings Night Club in Langley Park. The Settings set up a contest to select the resident sound and though "Jamkam" didnt turn out the winner, they went as far as the finals. Reggae Music as always been his thing, it is the last thing he hear before he sleep and the first when he wake. A writer and Producer of his own music, he plans to grow and inspire.
