Out of a Northwest Indiana basement, a four piece rock band called Coinslot burst onto the local music scene, playing their first show on November 1st, 2003. They placed in the Highland, IN Battle of the Bands and captured the attention of the local papers. Since then, Coinslot has not stopped rocking out and taking names, playing more shows almost every weekend. They now call Bloomington, IN home and have gained much recognition in a short time with the student body of Indiana University, receiving 1st in a school sponsored Battle of the Bands in October 2004. Coinslot has recorded three demos within the last two years and in 2005 released their first six song EP in collaboration with Silex Entertainment titled “Smile, music is Dead”, which was recorded at Echo Park Studios and produced by Kevin Loyal and Joe Burris.
