Duane Eric Corbett, known as Corbettjazz, grew up in Wilmington, North Carolina. At a very young age , he was introduced to fusion jazz. His love for the piano pushed him in 1986 to pursue how to play and write music. His influences are George Duke, Lonnie Liston Smith, Jean-Luc-Ponty, Weather Report, Joe Sample, Chick Corea and the YellowJackets, just to name a few. The name Corbettjazz was chosen , because Duane really couldn't figure out which genre of jazz his music belonged. So he came to realize that it was his own brand of jazz, so he named it Corbettjazz. Listeneing to his music, you will find it has a soothing and silky smooth affect that keeps you wanting more; it takes you away. Don't believe me, listen for yourself. Corbettjazz is in the house.
