The song writing team of Crowe and Borraga began in 1978, due to an un-tunable guitar and four musical cords held loosely together by eleven lyrical lines that told of a lonely love that could no longer be endured.

Charles knew Allen's father and his familiarity with guitars. Charles had purchased an old electric guitar that wouldn't tune. He asked Allen's father to tune it. He said Allen could, and left the guitar for Allen to work with.

Weeks later Charles returned to ask about the guitar. Allen said the bridge was bad and he had traded it for a some strings, picks and a distortion box.

Allen wondered why Charles wanted a guitar when he couldn't play! Charles divulged the words to a song just written. Charles showed Allen the chords then Allen convinced Charles to sing the words as he strummed the chords.

Days later, Allen showed up at Charles' house having finished the song. They went into Charles' attic and recorded it on a cheap tape player. Nights flew by, and before long, many songs were born.

C J came by to play and fell in love with the song. He became a permanent fixture. His rhythms helped solidify every song created.

With bass player Dennis Allen, they formed the band HOMEGROWN, playing at weddings, church festivals and eventually an eight-hour recording session.

Years flew by, but they never lost track of each other. The writing and playing continues today.
