Dementation emerged from the boredom of contemporary rock, tired re-runs of yesterdays sounds and a frustration over the depressing conformity in heavy music. Something new was needed and the musical results combined rock n´roll attitude with political content, aggression with reconciliation, melody with sonic shredding. A musical wakeup call from apathy, boredom and mindless consumism.

The members with past experience from MISCONDUCT and BELLTOWN decided early to create a unique sound and use a DIY approach. First came the music, then the means to record and distribute it without comprimise, rules or middlemen. Through Mind Riot Records the Dept. act on their own terms, making music with a hand on the heart and the fist in the air.
