derelict was born Shade.7, out of a hell of sheer frustration, boredom, and a liberal amount of alcohol and drugs mixed with a good dose of insanity. fresh out of the screwed up mind of Neo / RJ, artist, photographer, full-time freak and general creative whore, Shade.7 produced electronica melding with hard metal into rockin grooves. it was more of a learning experience than a band for its two members, Neo / RJ and dot.x, best friends and partners in crime.
It wasnt until July 2003, 4 months after its formation, that Shade.7 got any recognition at all. It wasnt until the surprise hit FALL suddenly climbed the charts that it became serious. July was a good month for Shade.7 in more ways. Based on the success of FALL, the band recieved an offer from Statue Records. They jumped on the chance to get their music out there. the offer was good, basically it was free and they werent asking to change the music. Shade.7 took it. Following INTERLUDE, Shade.7 kept kept pouring out hit after hit. OVERDOSE turned out to be Shade.7's biggest hit, unmoving in its top 10 spot in the Industrial Metal subcharts. This was to be followed by Ashes, an equally worthy succesor.
And this is where Neo / RJ decided it was time for change. The band needed a makeover. Shade.7 was out. It was time for derelict to take over.

derelict's music has been described as dark abstract industrial fusion, their songs as surreal abstract poetry, but for Neo / RJ (vocals, music, lyrics, schizophrenia) this is only the beginning, as Shade.7 or derelict. only the beginning.
