Dex was born in Canton, Ohio. Dex was the youngest child of four with his three siblings being all women. Dex’s mother was a single parent, which gave Dex the responsibility of being the man of the house at a very young age

When asked what makes his music so different, Dex replies: “I like to cover a lot of categories of music such as, Rap, Gospel, R&B, and Rock. I respect them all. There are a lot of artist who make things up just too sound street or hood. I don’t have to make things up. I rap about my life first hand. I live what I write about. My goal is to touch as many people as I can in order to motivate them and teach them that if I can do this and make it out then they can do the same. That’s why I call myself… The Passion of the Streets.”

Dex’s musical influences include “Tu Pac” and “Little Wayne”. This was due to Little Wayne being in Dex’s age group and Tu Pac just carried that passion in his voice and the delivery that attracted Dex’s attention.

In Dex’s own words “I dedicate my music to anyone who has had any influence on my life whether bad or good. This would include my family and friends, enemies, all haters, and to everyone knows Darrik, not just Dex.
