Em has been selected twice by the Australian Association of Songwriters as an up and coming songwriter and has performed sets of her original music at the Brunswick Bar, Bar Open on the 31st May, 2006 and 25th October, 2006.
Em was written up on their website the first time, as 'Emma Kelly's songs come on with the complexity of a Bad Seeds arrangement but the vocal sweetness of Angie Hart'. When Em was asked back in October she was thrilled at another opportunity to perform her first three songs; Tumbleweed, Sunny Day and Smoke Signal and debut her two new songs Spoonfed and Pot Plant, noted on their website as 'sweet caramel folk-pop.'

Em was also thrilled to be selected as a feature on the Sonicbids homepage website for the week that started the 25th December, 2006.
