I am a native son of The Netherlands, born in a town called Son. I also lived in France, Belgium and the United States, where I worked as a freelance reporter, writer and aids prevention worker.

From a very early age I developed a passion for music and for the arts, literature and poetry. I started to write music at age 7, but my talents did not come to full bloom until 1982, when I put together an 11-piece school band.

After moving to Amsterdam, I formed a creative partnership with my brother Paul. As the "Burpeburg Brothers" we were involved in a large number of creative projects and wrote many songs together. Eventually we moved to San Francisco, California.
After moving back 5 years later, I returned to Amsterdam an older and wiser man and went back to his passions; painting and writing music.

The songs I wrote over the years are pop-ballads mostly, but some are inspired by jazz, rock, and even Latin music. I need to challenge myself when writing; I do not believe in easy solutions or predictable scores and themes. A song has to surprise the listener. The only way to get satisfaction from my work is by impressing myself.
