Formed in early 2005, Goodnight Mars is an Indie-Alt-Power-Pop trio from Vancouver. Good Night Mars’ sound could be compared to an eclectic mix of Sloan, Queens of The Stone Age, Cheap Trick, Smashing Pumpkins and early Radiohead. Their sound is jam packed with catchy melodies and guitar riffs, intelligent lyrics and solid grooves played with passion and precision.
Good Night Mars come by their British influences with singer/guitarist KEN LAWSON, originally hailing from Scotland. Ken has won a runner up award in the Unisong International songwriting competition and has in his previous musical experiences open up for bands such as Nickelback, Junkhouse, Grapes of Wrath, Pure and the Gandharvas. Drummer CHRIS GLOVER has been around music and drumming all of his life, having been taught as a child by his father. He soon became obsessed with Led Zeppelin’s drummer, John Bonham, and started to teach drums himself. Chris is also a champion “go cart” racer.
Then, we found the talented DAVID MARION on bass guitar. Hailing from Paris, France, he earned a scholarship to study like many of the world’s best at Berklee College of Music in Boston. Having been influenced by bands and singers like Cream and David Bowie, and, then, by the jazz-fusion of Victor Wooten, David has performed on stages and TV all around the world for such artists like the winner of the French version of “American Idol”, Steeve Estatoff (“Nouvelle Star”).
