Jay Dunphy and The Religion have just released their sophomore effort, "If Winning is Inevitable...What's the Point in Playing." This well under a year of their locally acclaimed debut, "Season of the deadened." The new album offers a more contemporary feel than the first yet still holds true to the rootsy elements The Religion is synonomous with. Compared to the likes of Steve Earle, Ryan Adams and often Bob Dylan, the band has a unique sound with Jay at the helm writing the songs and delivering them with his own brand of vocal style and The Religion helping with arrangements and carrying the tunes in exciting and powerful directions. Jay Dunphy and The Religion are currently planning a cross-Canada tour in April 2006 that will take them from Victoria, B.C. to Toronto and back to support the release of their new disc
