My name is Jim Benuska and I am 27 yrs. of age. I have been in love with the percussive instruments since the age of seven and have been playing since I was twelve.
Once I sat down I couldn't leave. I didn't want lessons because I was to stubborn and impatient. So, I taught my self with the help of Nirvanas' "Nevermind" and Black Sabbaths' "Paranoid". That evolved into trying to figure out Ulrich, Bonham, Moon, Perkins, and the rest.
While in the High School band I started studying Jazz and spent everyday for an hour after school with my band instructor smacking my left leg to make sure that I was "KEEPING THE TIME" which of course made me that much stronger as a player. While studying Jazz I was also forming my own rock bands and gigging around Illinois and in Chicago. After High School I had stars in my eyes and focused solely on taking whatever band that I was in at the time to the top. A few of them almost made it, but because there is a business side to show business it never panned out so I moved west and am currently living in San Diego, California with my beautiful wife Janelle and our dog Riley.
