"Nu" is short for the word "Nuevo"(new in english)as well as Nubian which means "people of color" and "Heights" is our reminder that before the birth of Hip Hop our parents came striving for something better.NuHeights is a response to the HIP HOP INDUSTRY and its branches consciously neglecting the LATINO community for many, many years.Some would even say INVISIBLE.Especially the youth who ALWAYS have lived in NYC.My name is DR 136(DivineRuler136)and I was born and raised on the oldest yet most neglected ten miles of real estate on the ORIGINAL HIP HOP MAP. I came up with other cultures but the Hip Hop industry was not telling the Latino story of the Upper West Side to Northern most tip of Manhattan.I felt Dominicans were neglected in Hip Hop now this was our opportunity to showcase talent of other overlooked cultures and hoods as well.To expose their skills and put them on display.Luckily for me I linked up with very talented producers like DJ NEXX(Mexicano),DJ NECIO(Dominican-Italian), CRAMS(Dominican-Puerto Rican) and DJ CHOKO(Dominican).The rappers are Tommy Y Martin,King Carlos,White Shadow,Rony Nykee,Yacell Y Leyen,JHaz,Los Tremendos,Mr.Capo,El Destroyer and sometimes me DR 136.Rap came natural to me since my first poem at the age of nine was published in my community's District 6 poetry book.NuHeights will celebrate HIP HOP, express our cultures yet not exclude those who grew up with us on the 1 train and/or influenced our childhood.We stopped trying to adjust so HIP HOP as an INDUSTRY could accept our walk,talk,flow and hood.Our beef was never with so called Hip Hop OG's or Pioneers.If anything they knew first hand how Dominicans and other not so mentioned Latino groups had been there from the cutting of Hip Hops umbilical cord.I remembered then later accepted that HIP HOP was not a planned birth and came into existence by being unapologetic some would say even rude. Just like that one house party in everyone's hood.You are all invited but its senseless to try and stop it.History shows "the best of Hip Hop culture is when the grassroot level identifies with artistic expressions that are the HOOD based" as written in my book The Invisible B-Boy.NuHeights Entertainment stopped waiting for that invitation and now were here.My business savvy partner PATRICIO agreed.So NuHeights is the rallying cry for all those who struggle for something better.OPRIME 2 PARA ESPANOL AND PLEASE PRONOUNCE THE X IN Texas LIKE A H SOUND.Just ride with us b/c the best stop just might be the last.......137.DIMELO MONSTRO KLK...YA TU SABE SIEMPRE PA' LANTE.
