Hi folks, I'm Patch Jones.
I started playing guitar when I got out of high school. I'm 43 now, so that was back when there were dinosaurs:) I messed around with my guitar for quite a few years, but I wasn't real serious about it back then. Later I started playing bass and that's when I started getting more serious, so actually my musical career began as a bass player. I played bass for a number of Blues, and Classic Rock bands. Eventually, I moved back towards playing guitar again, and I became more of a solo artist. At this time I began concentrating more on making my own recordings. I have a little studio where I spend most of my free time writing, playing, recording, mixing and mastering.
OK, first I%u2019ll tell you the story behind the patch. When I was about a year old I was diagnosed with a type of cancer in my left eye called "Retinal Blastoma." When the cancer was discovered it was very close to spreading into my brain. Had it done so, I would not be writing this and there would be no songs by Patch Jones. Anyway, my left eye is artificial. For anyone who wears contacts, you realize that dry eyes can be a problem. For me, playing music in smoky bars, late at night, with a tired dry artificial eye, became somewhat painful. It was easier just to wear an eye patch. So that is why I wear the patch. I also have a pet parrot and I rob ships that stray out of international waters, so the patch works out well for that job too;{})
I have two CDs as a solo artist. One I is called "In the Kingdom of the Blind." The other is called "On Top of the World." "In the Kingdom of the Blind" has a strong Blues and Old Rock influence, and "On Top of the World" is more hard heavy, and explicit. I also have another album called "Incensative" from my former band "Lyce." Lyce is pretty much a dead project at this time. Presently, I am a solo artist, and from time to time, I collab with some other artists on Kompoz.com. I plan to make all my music available for full length streaming, but I sure would appreciate it if you would download me off of iTunes, or whatever digital distribution service you use. 99 cents is not much, but it can mean a lot to a musician!
The musical style spans the genres of Blues and Rock, ranging from hard and heavy, all the way down to soft and light. Since I am influenced by such a wide range of music, I often find it difficult to stay within the confines of just one genre. As you listen to my music you will notice that my influences are the great legends from Blues and Classic Rock. Artists such as Eric Clapton and Cream, Jim Morrison and the Doors, Hendrix, Zeppelin, and on up into the more hard and heavy stuff. These artists drew heavily on both Rock and Blues, to achieve their unique sound. In many ways, I have also done this, and in the hope of adding my own style and signature to a compilation of Patch Jones tunes, that you will find to be something new and unique.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope you Enjoy the tunes!!!
