Rhymestyle is a phonetic technician, who can easily execute some of the most difficult lyrical feats the Rap world has ever witnessed. He is one of the only rappers with the dexterity required to consistently rhyme up to 10 or more syllables per line of a couplet in a verse, without missing a beat or becoming nonsensical.Poly-syllabic rhyme structures of various lengths, however, are just one of many signature moves he can pull off. Another rhyming trick that Rhymestyle has perfected is called a Paradigm Shift. In the lyrically torturous song "The Joys of Poisonous Noises", he exploits this technique to no end. The two 24 bar verses of that joint each have 12 couplets a piece. Notice how the first & second line of every single couplet ends in an ad-libbed, three-syllable rhyme pattern that never breaks form. Line 1 of every couplet is always ended with a three syllable word like "piracy", while Line 2 of every couplet is also always ended with a three-syllable rhyme pattern, the difference is that the three-syllable rhyme pattern in Line 2 is always comprised of a "mosaic" three-syllable rhyme pattern made up of two or three smaller words like "virus free". The paradigm-shifting of the rhyme occurs when the first letter(s) at the beginning of the 3rd syllable is shifted to the end of the 2nd syllable to form a new word, leaving whatever's left of the 3rd syllable to be rhymed seperately by a mono-syllable word. Phonetically it would look like this... Line 1: Piracy - PIE-RUH-S/EE & Line 2: Virus Free - VIE-RUH-S/ (FR)EE! An interesting side note about The Joys of Poisonous Noises are the intricate Internal rhymes leading up to the end patterns of the lines within the couplets. Rhymestyle has stated to me that Paradigm Shifts (Arid Climates!) are a rare & anomalous occurence within the phonetic structure of the English Language. He told me that there are only a finite number of these type of rhymes to be discovered, & that he's already found the majority of them. In one sitting, scanning through his American Heritage Dictionary while high, Rhymestyle boasts that he uncovered more of these Paradigm-shifting rhyme patterns during that night, than most rappers will stumble upon in their lives. Masculine, Feminine, Perfect, Internal, Sight or Eye, Slant or Partial, Assonance, Consonance, Alliteration, etc., etc., Whatever kind of rhyme it is, RS is well-versed in the technical mastery of it.
