The 28-year-old Stockton, California native artist has never been more focused as he prepares to explore the full potential of what he can offer to today's music scene. Artist TRUTH is destined for a fulfilled life in music. Born Simon Gomez October 9th, 1980, in Stockton, California, the Hip-Hop, R&B, Rap performer/songwriter is the son of parents who hail from Mexican/American heritage. He derives his moniker from the constant drive of always speaking the truth and opening minds about life, society, relationships, and subjects people don't regularly, or are afraid to talk about. His talent, ambition, and focus is inwardly driven, though he credits his Godfather's love for music and his families support for his career as fundamental to his success today.
TRUTH has come a long way since the days of his childhood, absorbing all the Funk, Soul, Hip-Hop and R&B his Godfather played for him. His main influences in music are Tupac Shakur poetically, Biggie Smalls lyrically, and older R&B like Stevie Wonder, Earth Wind and Fire, and Marvin Gaye. At the age of 15 is when he recognized his gift and sharpened his ability to rap and continued receiving challenges and battles against peers and older competitors. In 2000, he joined a youth group at St. Georges Church and started making music with God as inspiration and found that his music was an opportunity from God to speak the truth to the world and did not want to take it for granted. With the passing of his mother in 2003, TRUTH found himself wanting to give up on music all together, but in giving up, he actually felt motivated to spend time writing and practicing performance, because he learned from his mother that if God gives you a gift, you don't just give up on it. In 2004 he managed to put together his first show which brought 700 people in attendance. After receiving good reviews, the first layout of four tracks were recorded at Platinum Plus recording studios. In 2005, the tracks were put on Myspace and received notice from Y2K Entertainment and was then invited to perform at Tunes Nightclub in San Jose in a talent contest that lead to a victory. He later returned to a bigger contest there which held some of the biggest Bay Area acts, and won that contest as well, leading to being able to tour with Y2K Entertainment. Those early positive music experiences have grown into the meaningful and promising tracks you'll hear on his CD today, as well as the burgeoning career he has already carved for himself in Stockton, including live gigs in Modesto, Sacramento, San Francisco, San Jose, Fresno, San Luis Obispo, and Santa Barbara.
During the two years, TRUTH has written, produced, and performed 16 tracks for his album - TRUTH CAN YOU HANDLE IT, and has hooked up with Jim Johnston from jcommstudios and formed a group with TY, MARV, X.L.E, and ERICA called Tru Disciples whom are also featured on the album. In February of 09 2019, a track from the album- Livin' My Life, was featured on 97.7KWIN's unsigned at 9 and won four days in a row leaving TRUTH with many fans wanting to hear more. The album was released on June 27th, 2009 and has been selling quite well just by word of mouth and from a steady fan base.
TRUTH mainly desires to bring people together to appreciate the music, and get a message across that cause people to refrain themselves from the state of mind that Hip-Hop is all cars, money, bling, women, and material objects. The best work from TRUTH including a full-blown display of his formidable lyrical range is yet to come, while the many sides of his artistry are only just beginning to be known.
